Description

Lemongrass, also known as Fever grass, Citronella is a tall, aromatic, tender perennial grass native to India and tropical Asia; it grows to a height of up to 2 metres. The leaves are long, linear, tapering towards the tip. As the name implies, lemon grass smells like lemon, however, it is much sweeter and tastes milder, is a good source of folate, vitamins as well as micro and macro elements, contains vitamins A, B1, B5, B6, & C and minerals including copper, iron, manganese and zinc. Apart from its culinary uses, lemongrass has a wide variety of therapeutic effects. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to brighten moods, as a digestive aid and to bring down fevers.

It is used in tea blends, for a thirst-quenching effect, treating stomachache, high blood pressure, fever, the and common cold. It can kill germs or serve as a mild astringent. Recent studies have also shown regular consumption of lemon grass may lower LDL cholesterol levels.

How to use?
Lemongrass tea is most often used in home remedies for various health issues. You can brew the tea by steeping one teaspoon of fresh or dried lemongrass in a cup of hot water for about 10 minutes. Strain, add any desired sweetener and your tea is ready.
