Liquorice Root

Licorice Root is a popular ingredient in traditional medicine and culinary applications around the world. This woody, aromatic root has a unique flavor that is both sweet and slightly bitter, making it a versatile ingredient in a variety of dishes and teas.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is an amazing plant with interesting health and caring properties. It is mainly associated with sweets with a specific taste and black color. Licorice root is naturally sweet due to the presence of glycyrrhizin, which is 50 times sweeter than sugar. Liquorice bioactive substances are known for their positive effects on the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system and female reproductive system.

- Licorice positively affects the condition of the walls of the stomach and intestines. Promotes healing of irritation and mucosal defects. The active compounds contained in licorice inhibit the growth of Helicobacter pylori.- Relieves asthmatic, allergic and associated cough
- Helps maintain balance in the female sex hormone economy. Alleviates the negative effects of menopause.
- Has a positive effect on the skin. It is suitable for the care of atopic, eczema and inflammatory changes as well as for daily care of all skin types. It soothes irritations, itching, redness and swelling.

- Irritated stomach and intestines
- cough
- menopause and PMS
- for skin care

Highest Quality 100% licorice root.

- Licorice root has a very sweet taste, similar to anise, with a bitter-salty taste. The longer the root stays in the water, the more intense it gives the flavor, so it should not be brewed for too long

- It is best to prepare the brew from licorice root. Just pour boiling water over it and brew for about 5 minutes - it's worth adjusting the amount of liquorice and brewing time to your taste preferences
- A pinch of cut licorice root is worth adding to tea to give it an interesting, sweet taste. Licorice goes well with herbal, spice and ginger teas. It doesn't go well with fruit teas and lemon juice. Licorice root can also be chewed.
- The dried root should be stored in a tightly closed container. You can store it for a very long time.

- Licorice raises blood pressure, so it should not be used by people with hypertension!
- People suffering from heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and hypokalemia should not take licorice.
- It is better not to eat licorice in the evening, because it can interfere with falling asleep.
- Licorice should not be used for a long time. After 4 weeks of use, take a break.
- Excessive licorice intake can cause side effects such as elevated aldosterone levels, headaches, fatigue, high blood pressure, and water retention.

Liquorice memories

I mix this ingredient with blackcurrant leaf as a tea, and it brings back memories of being a child and my mum giving me blackcurrant liquorice sweets. I have never had liquorice root of this quality before. So happy I found this store :)
